How to Recruit and Retain Gen-Z Tech Talent

Generation Z, the demographic cohort succeeding Millennials and preceding Generation Alpha is the latest generation to start entering the workforce. In many ways, Gen Z was born amidst the burgeoning digital age—most have never known life without the internet, smartphones or video games. They have been exposed to the global marketplace of ideas, entertainment and commerce. Gen Z’s unique differences shape the way they approach employment. Due to their different ethos on employment and job search habits, some HR managers may consider hiring individuals from this generation challenging, however, each individual from Gen Z has their unique skills and abilities that can be priceless for a company's growth and development. The new workforce – Gen Z – has different expectations of how brands attract their talents and keep them happy in their roles. Knowing how to attract Generation Z starts with understanding their job search habits. Which channels are they most likely to use? How do they build relationships with recruiters? You need to adapt your culture and operations to attract the workforce of the future. Bridging the generation gap might mean setting foot into foreign territory and employing new strategies to attract this next generation of the workforce.

DEI is Everybody's Work

Diversity Inclusion and Equity (DEI) programs are an essential aspect of building engaged and happy employees. Organizations with strong DEI initiatives are more likely to have employees with increased job satisfaction, higher levels of trust, and are more engaged. However, DEI is not only for employees. Studies show DEI has the potential to increase sales revenue, increase customer base and ultimately increase profits. In a myriad of ways, DEI is not only the right thing to do, it also makes good business sense. However, DEI is not only the responsibility of employers, ESG groups but the entire organization. DEI is everybody’s work. When you consider the world we live in - where pressures, micro-aggressions, discrimination, and violence is experienced on an ongoing basis, the need for a safe place to create, contribute, and thrive is vital. Nearly one-third of our lives, or 90,000 hours, is dedicated to working. That’s a lot of time and energy. An organization that truly embraces DEI creates a space that allows people to not just work on the task at hand safely but to create and contribute in a way that is authentic and valued.

Microlearning Workshop: Recognizing & Mitigating Unconscious Bias in Talent Acquisition

As businesses around the world work toward supporting inclusion and diversity initiatives, they’re discovering that building an inclusive culture starts with ensuring they have a diverse employee population. However, even when companies intend to hire more diverse candidates, organizations have historically struggled to meet that objective. Although technology has transformed the way we recruit and interview candidates, one major lingering limitation remains: our employee’s natural unconscious bias. Unconscious bias isn’t something a business can eradicate overnight by passing mandates or requiring unconscious bias training. Whether or not we are aware, our preferences and implicit stereotypes affect our perceptions of others, and this can be detrimental to bringing on new diverse talent. Which biases are affecting the hiring process, and how can we prevent them from influencing our decisions? During this workshop, our experts will explore methods a company can use to identify and reduce the impact of the biases that people within the organization may hold, improve hiring practices and enjoy the many documented benefits of a more diverse workforce.

Masterclass: ERG Intelligence - What Every Leader Needs to Know About Employee Groups

Employee Resource Groups are voluntary, employee-led groups aiming to foster a diverse, inclusive workplace aligned with the organizations they serve. They are usually led and participated in by employees who share a characteristic, whether it's gender, ethnicity, religious affiliation, lifestyle, or interest. Allies may also be invited to join the ERG to support their colleagues. ERGs build high-trust relationships that help companies flourish. The groups foster a sense of belonging and inspire conversation, bring new ways to look at issues and drive innovation.

The groups exist to support and help in personal or career development and create a safe space where employees can bring their whole selves to the table. ERGs have been around since the 1960s when black workers at Xerox organized to discuss race-based tension in the workplace. ERG’s have only grown in size – according to TopMBA, ERGs are found in 90% of Fortune 500 companies. They are increasingly relevant today as gender issues, questions of personal identiy and politics affect everyone. During this workshop, leaders of ERG and affinity groups will discuss the importance of ERGs in today’s work environment.

Secure Code - The Good, The Bad, and The Future

When we build bridges to connect roads, skyscrapers, offices, etc., we build them with secure practices. Why should this be any different with digital infrastructure that connects our everyday lives in web pages, apps, databases, cloud, etc.? What is necessary in both instances is regular maintenance and resilience testing. The problem is 86% of developers do not prioritize secure coding in their development, which is quite alarming as most of the world relies on digital infrastructure now more than ever. We’ve invited a panel of industry experts and thought leaders to look at the following:

  • Past incidents caused by vulnerabilities in code
  • Current challenges and recent adaptations in application security training
  • What the future of secure coding looks like
  • Stories of code vulnerabilities and the impacts to businesses and industries

The more tech we use and incorporate in our core business functions, the more vulnerable each of organizations become to a potential breach. The adoption of effective cybersecurity standards at every organization begins with well-versed marketing teams. This panel will walk you through not only the reasoning behind the need for tighter standards, but what parameters need to be put in place and how every marketer can activate it starting now.

Inside the Mind of the Hacker: Approaching Security Defense and Incident Response Like a CTO

Recent cyber-attacks have revealed two very clear trends: First, cyber criminals are using more sophisticated approaches. Second, we’re seeing that effective cyber teams have pivoted to using two different response tactics. One tactic includes sharing “war-stories” with fellow security professionals after the event. The other is using more sophisticated security analytics techniques. Join us to learn more about these trends, and find answers to the following questions: How do CTOs collaborate with CISOs and other teams to leverage collective experience and wisdom? How can IT pros and organization executives become more proactive rather than reactive as they analyze attacks?

In this webinar, you’ll learn about:

  • The enhanced collaboration between the “human firewall” and automated analytics technology
  • Recent scams and incident response tactics (Uber included)
  • How to approach various technical challenges – such as application security, database security, and open source security
  • Moving from the “defender’s dilemma” to the “hacker’s dilemma”
  • The value of information sharing and Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence (CTI)
